My students participating in this activity are members of the high school United States history and civics classes. The students are members of a low-income, rural farming community. The work values of the community are passed along to the students who will one day be the leaders of tomorrow. The students strive to learn about the government and world that seems so far away from their reach in rural Maine. By doing this project we are bringing the outside world in and encouraging them to become more active citizens. The students are always thrilled to present projects to their fellow classmates to show their ability in the classroom.
