I chose Dell Chromebooks (2) as a resource for my students for many reasons. One important reason being that I have a shortage of technology in my classroom, and I believe my students need more technology to help them with their classwork. Also, I think in today's world, my students need more exposure to different kinds of technology.
Most of my students come from a background that may not be fortunate enough to have technology at home, so I would love to not only expose my students to the world of technology, but also show them how much of a learning resource it is!
Another reason I think it would be fantastic to have more technology in the classroom is that with my limited amount of computers, some of my students may go a couple of days without going on the computer. They need to get at least 45 minutes in both Reading and Math on a nation-wide online interactive website known as I-Ready. Sometimes due to our schedules our whole group may run too long, or we may not get through enough center rotations during our Differentiated Instruction time in class and some student will not get to go on the computer for a couple of days in a row.
Having just two more computers in the classroom would allow so many more opportunities for ALL of my students a chance to get on the computer and get their minutes done!
Last but not least, if all my students in each group are able to go on a computer during Differentiated Instruction time, then I can start creating online projects or scavenger hunts that tie in with our plans to further engage students in our lessons!
