As an English learner, I understand the challenges that come with learning a second language. At the same time, I know first hand the empowering feeling of first learning how to read, write, and speak in the second language.
My goal is to get each student that walks into my classroom excited about learning Spanish. I want them to feel confident and capable of learning it. I want to empower them with the necessary skills to be able to read, write, and speak in Spanish.
One of my favorite methods of teaching Spanish is TPRS -Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling. I strive to provide my students with lots of comprehensible input through contextualized, repetitive, and exciting stories and fun games that capture their interests. My students love dressing up and acting out the stories they read. They love playing board games, Jeopardy, and card games with their classmates to learn vocabulary and grammar structures. My students love learning Spanish and having fun.
Please help me fund my Spanish Learning Through Reading and Storytelling Project to empower each of my students with the necessary skills to effectively speak, write, and read in Spanish.
