I am a first year teacher with an Educational Technology Minor. I love all the great things that can come of technology. Last year was the first year these students have used anything greater than a computer lab. Using the Chromebooks have changed the way they create. They are the problem solvers now.
Our class has gone from simply reproducing work on the Chromebook to CREATING commercials for books encouraging classmates to read them, to CREATING PBIS videos of how to behave in common areas of the school, to TEACHING our fellow classmates. The students and I love the Chromebooks, their only downfall is it is difficult to move objects using the mouse. As you can see, a lot of the things create have to do with editing, and making our own videos. A classroom set of mice would allow all of my students to create on the same level. Those with tracking issues would be able to better create as they are using their whole hand, not just their fingers. Those who get frustrated easily with accidentally bumping the mouse pad would no longer get frustrated.
