We are in California. My students are sophomores and juniors in public high school. My class contains a mixture of ELL students and those on free or reduced price lunch programs. They are also a mixture of student athletes, club representatives, and ASB members. They are all eager to learn and enjoy the occasional demo with supporting cheesy chemistry joke. Like all students they would much rather be discovering chemistry first hand rather than through a book or notes.
