My students are AMAZING! They continually coming up with ways to amaze me even more. I work with students ranging from K-6th grade with mild, moderate, and severe cognitive and physical disabilities. These students have great personalities and they WANT to learn and grow in academics and independence, the problem is that because of their cognitive levels, they are unable to always succeed in their mainstream classrooms. They come to my room to work anywhere from 1 hour up to 4 hours a day, depending on how academically low they are and how much they can actively participate in the classroom. My school is located in a small community, that is very open and welcoming to the special education population. My administrators and I want to work on providing this welcoming community with a group of students that are ready to be active community members and participate independently within the community.
