Robotics education allows student to learn and get engaged in science, technology, engineering, arts and math principles. My students are not only want to take STEM classes, but they participate in the after school activities as well. Currently, my students must sketch their designs by hand and then on the computer. They then complete and construct the final model without an actual prototype. Giving the students additional resources will motivate them to be even more creative.
The color and 3d printers will greatly encourage the students to continue in robotics education. Having these resources will give students an opportunity to compete at a greater level in district, state and national competitions.
Rapid prototyping of robots will allow the students to design and print an actual model of their design before going into full production for competitions. The students will be able to print a color copy or their prototypes for their STEM portfolios. They will also be able to test their prototypes in the classroom to refine their designs before making final modifications. This will greatly enhance their learning experience in the science and technology program.
