With these two class sets of literature, I will be able to incorporate literacy within my lessons. Coming from a rural community, it is imperative that we aim to improve the literacy levels of our students. The "Gifted Hands" set would be able to serve as an inspiration for my students, who had/have a similar background as Dr. Carson. The students would be able to aspire to be like him in the healthcare field. The Henrietta Lacks set would be able to provide a literary aspect of legal and ethical dilemmas within the healthcare system. This would be able to provide a real example so that they may be able to examine and determine if his or her ethical standards align with the book.
