Mindful Matters, The Zen room! This upcoming school year my classroom is being turned into the zen room. I am a behavior specialist that has been researching ways to help students with social and emotional issues. I came across mindful matters, which to me means mediation. Instead of students getting strict consequences, they will now do meditation, deep breathing , and will learn ways to change their anger into happiness. Setting up your classroom is part of the big picture. Right now I have hard chairs and a u-shape table. That is not going to work when trying to calm students down.
The materials requested will make a big difference in my classroom and to my students who need a safe place.
