My students are AWESOME! They are inquisitive, creative, and hardworking. I love to be able to give them mathematical challenges that take their learning to the next level. We use math games, interactive small groups, math manipulatives, and students have many opportunities to get out of their seats to complete a variety of math activities. I commute 45 minutes from my hometown to the school where I work. It's in a small town on the Llano Estacado in the Texas Panhandle. We are a Title I district and 80% of our students are economically disadvantaged. According to the most recent data, our students are 88.8% Hispanic, 10.2% white, and less than 1% are African American, Native American, Asian, Pacific Islander, or two or more races. 11% are English Language Learners, though many more speak English as their second language. There is a high migrant population in the area.
