Having access to reading materials is probably one of the most important things I can do as a teacher to help students get intrinsically motivated to read at an early age. With high-interest texts readily available I can help foster a love of reading and a community of readers. There is something magical that happens when a student finishes a whole book for the first time and the sense of pride it infuses into that student can be a building book for future success in reading.
I have seen it firsthand in my classroom-students igniting their spark and love for reading, and I desire every student to have this confidence. The titles chosen from my ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ list are best-selling, popular-with-tweens books that have the power to 'hook' students on reading for life!
These books will also help me with a Summer Reading Club for students and parents to participate in, also promoting literacy and increased parental involvement.
