My students attend an urban Title I high school in Chattanooga that is brimming with brilliant kids who face incredible obstacles to their success. These bright-eyed students are full of vim and vigor every day and work hard to grow as scholars. Unfortunately, almost all of my students have grown up in low-income settings and attended schools situated in concentrated poverty. As a result, almost every student is behind in academics and the skills necessary for them to become professionally and personally successful in the workplace and broader society.
