The future is in my classroom! The skills we are learning are necessary for future careers. I teach two groups of fourth graders reading and ELA. In my classroom students utilize booktalks, centers, teacher instruction, small groups, technology, and individualized learning goals to advance in personal reading and writing skills. Students work to choose the just right book and are learning to improve their reading and writing stamina. While learning the strategies of good readers and writers, we are also working to improve our personal reading levels. My students perform best when they are comfortable and relaxed. This is difficult in the average school desk and chair. Therefore I am working to provide a variety of flexible seating and learning options.
