In Environmental Science, we study the rock cycle and types of rocks. I want my students to be able to experience igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks first-hand. When we are doing lab assignments, it is important that they can see and feel the differences in the different types of rock in each category and be able to compare them to one other. Making the activity tangible leaves a much more memorable impression and will allow the students to better understand and better retain what they learn about how rocks are destroyed and formed.
