My students are caring, energetic and curious about how things work. They love learning new things and connecting to the world and each other through books, discussions and interactive, hands-on activities.
My district, school, and thus classroom, are very diverse. More than 80% of the students speak a native language other than English at home and/or are immigrants to the US. Because of budget cuts, students have limited art and music programs and no extracurricular activities at the elementary level. Class sizes are large and teachers provide for the diverse needs of ENL, special and general education students within the same class.
