Flexible seating allows my students the independence of choosing their best learning environment. Making sure students are comfortable and have the proper supplies is an essential component in motivating them. Offering a variety of options, encourages independence and allows them to make choices
When given the opportunity to choose their own seating, students are more engaged and motivated to do their very best.
The items that I have selected will help my students by giving them non-traditional seating options to make more successful learning choices. The wobble stools allow for a bit of movement for my students who need the wiggle room. The rug and pillows allow for a soft, comfortable option during independent work time or simply for a safe space to calm their bodies. The countdown timer will help my students understand when a conclusion to a task or transition is coming.
Ultimately, I believe every child has capabilities and strengths, sometimes small changes are necessary for big results. Being able to provide these students with different seating options and enhance their motivation for learning can make all the difference. That is why it is imperative to find resources to help support and nurture my students’ learning and help them become successful for life.
