As we know this past school year was unlike any other. It forced not only the students to adapt and change to a new way of learning but educators to think outside of the box more than ever before.
It would be really beneficial for the students to have their own tablet with a keyboard and headphones to use in the classroom. This will help them to engage with this new way of learning, while also being able to interact with peers and maintaining a safe social distance. Before Covid-19 sharing was encouraged in my classroom from snacks to materials and electronics. In our "New Normal" sharing is not encouraged and that is why I am asking for individual tablets and headphones.
As a special educator I often have to come up with creative ways to engage the students and get them to understand the skills that are being taught and practiced. Particularly during remote learning this became a new adventure that we conquered together. Through remote learning I can honestly say I saw improvements in my students. They were learning new skills, while maintaining skills previously learned while we were together. I believe that this came from the use of technology.
Prior to remote learning I haven't used much technology. Currently my classroom has a smartboard that often doesn't connect to the one computer I have. Since remote learning and seeing that my students have made progress using technology I want to carry this over into the new school year.
Please help my students by providing them with tablets with a keyboard, headphones as well as a charging box that will make sure their tablets are fully charged each morning. This will ensure they receive the equitable education they deserve!!
