Welcome! My name is Laura Beth Smith-Heimer and I am a 1st grade teacher at Garfield Elementary school. Located in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco, Garfield is a Title 1 school that serves a diverse population of students, including a high percentage of low-income students. Our school has a English pathway, a Cantonese immersion pathway, and a mild-to-moderate Autism special education pathway. Our goal at Garfield Elementary is for all students to be prepared with the academic knowledge and emotional skills to be engaged, joyful, and challenged in school and in life. I work with 17 adorable 1st graders that are funny, smart, and eager to learn.
