Our students range from 9-12 grade. Our SPED instructor Ms. Alejo is new to Moorpark High and the Social Communication program. She will be implementing lessons that help our students with social emotional learning skills. Whether that’s learning how to email a teacher or how to listen to a friend, these are lifelong skills required for student success.
Our students are high-functioning Autistic young adults who just need extra support. The goal for our students is to gain independence through attaining behavioral standards that is individualized. Sometimes to accomplish this goal, tools like flexible seating or weighted items are needed. We like to reward our students and we utilize a punchcard system to allow autonomy in earning. Students earn based on their behavioral goals and when a punchcard is filled, they can choose from the prize box.
As mentioned, our instructor is new so any help is much appreciated.
