My 10th grade English students are creative thinkers, thoughtful readers, reflective writers, and amazing artists. I teach at a public arts charter school that seeks to provide a creative, challenging, and nurturing environment that offers bright and talented students a rigorous college-preparatory education and pre-professional arts conservatory training. In my classroom I strive to create an innovative curriculum that allows students to grow and thrive as artist-scholars. One way I hope to expand our classroom curriculum this year is by adding more diverse voices into the literature we read.
I want my students to be able to see themselves, and their own stories, in the literature we read. By including diverse voices, I hope to expand my students' understanding of themselves, each other, and the world. Thank you for your support!
