Throughout the school year my students will have opportunities to collaborate in hands-on Maker projects to explore the concepts in science, technology, engineering, and math.
These materials will fund 5 Maker (STEM) Projects: Boats, Catapults, Bridges, Marble Runs, and Cardboard Arcade Games. Students will design bridges to explore different structural engineering tactics to see which bridge will hold the most weight (popsicle sticks, clothes pins, and binder clips). We will also build boats to explore which materials are most buoyant (wood, popsicle sticks, foil, and straw). My students will also get to build marble runs out of pipe insulation to learn about slopes and how they relate to speed and velocity.
Students will have a limited amount of each engineering material and will have to communicate, work together, and share resources to create the best designs!
