I am a Speech-Language Pathologist working with 4th and 5th grade students with communication impairments. My students often have primary disabilities, such as Autism and some have immune disorders. A new group of students visits my classroom every 30 minutes, thus creating a germy environment. During our lessons, students use picture cards and objects, which need to be cleaned between uses. Non-verbal students require instant food rewards to promote communication exchanges.
As an SLP, I have a caseload of over 60 students and do not have a budget for consumable materials and parents are not required to provide these items.
My students need Kleenex to wipe their noses, hand sanitizer when they enter and exit the room, and snacks that are healthy as rewards. Sanitizing wipes are needed to clean manipulatives, picture cards, and tables. These supplies will help maintain a healthy classroom environment for my students, which will keep them learning year-round!
