My school is well-loved for its international studies magnet and the Dual Language program. These two areas of emphasis attract students from varied economic and cultural backgrounds. Students are from the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Peru, Sudan, and Colombia, among others. I teach all subjects in Spanish to two different groups of third graders. While the majority of my students come from Spanish-speaking homes, most of them are more confident in English than Spanish; for this reason, I work a lot on vocabulary development and increasing their reading comprehension.
