Having a LulzBot Mini 3D Printer will allow my ELD and Dual Immersion students to demonstrate learning by designing, collaborating, and making. The students will be able to use 3D design software to create their own scale models of different historical structures, the evolution of mankind, and other standard align content. They will also learn about mechanical engineering through the design and printing of gears in order to create mechanisms that will take their learning to a higher level. All of these activities and lessons, that can only be made possible with this 3D printer, will foster collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity while also providing the students with authentic language development experiences. This will be the first experience to engineering and STEM for many of our students in our Title I school. The use of the 3D printer will spark curiosity and will create a pathway for future career exploration. The 3D printer will also allow for differentiated instruction and for kids to pursue their own passions.
My project will make a difference because it will provide all students with 21st Century skills while sparking imagination and opening the door for bigger dreams and possibilities. It will help develop the future problem solvers!
