PreKindergarten is a busy place of learning all skills; academic, social, emotional, and physical. We are naturally curious and love to explore everything. The 2018-2019 school year brings all day PreK to our school and new learning opportunities. With all day PreK we have more time to directly learn literacy (letter knowledge and sounds) and math concepts (shapes, numbers, and counting). All day PreK means we get to spend more time on music, which we love, and we get daily recess. Throughout our day and year we are learning about our feelings or emotions and building our social skills. We sometimes have very strong emotions about a situation, but do not know what to do with them. Teaching students social emotional skills prepares them not only for the rest of their school career, but life. We spend a lot of time talking about character building skills such as cooperation, responsibility, and self-control.
