Having a range of skill levels and personal motivation from my students I strive to let their creativity flow. To do this I try to do lessons that are hands-on, pencil and paper are needed but sometimes only in the planning stage of the project. Lessons involve printmaking by carving not only linoleum but wood, rubber, foam, soap, and plastic. To continue this method of positive and negative I would like to add the batik method of wax and dye. Rather than create a design, go over lines with blue Elmer’s glue, paint with acrylics, and wash away glue to reveal negative space I would like to have my students continue the patience and discipline they learned while carving to carefully use wax for those fine lines.
