The items I picked out are to help my students become engaged readers. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word. The easel will be used to hold morning meetings and to have a central place for the students to come sit around. Here we will work on our word study materials by placing our morning message on the board and turning that into a interactive writing station. The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in ELA.
The centers games are to motivate them into playing games with new words. Students love working in small groups to help each other advance their reading. The students love to play games and are always engaged. By supplying them with new materials and games, the students will be more engaged.
The sight word journals will also help the students feel like stronger writers and motivate them to write more using their sight words. The students will work together to place their new sight words into sentences and use these materials to have a chance to show off their skills.
