What was once a middle class, hard working, and safe community has changed drastically over the past 10 years. Drug addiction is a serious concern. Sadly, our county is second highest in the state for drug overdoses. Funding is extremely limited. Children are coming from homes where the parents aren't involved, and being raised by other family members or placed in foster care. Any education many of these students receive is strictly from the classroom and not reinforced at home. It is crucial to make their educational environment as beneficial for them as possible to maximize every educational opportunity.
My school is a Title I school so the financial struggle is real.
ADHD and ADD is on the rise (not just here, but everywhere). Students need items to help them get their wiggles out. Things such as the wobble chair will give students a chance to move around throughout the day, and not distract students. Flexible seating allows the students to change their seating preference. On days that the student is over stimulated, a quite sensory area will also be incorporated in the classroom using the soft seating.
Please, help me with this special request for these special children. Any donation will be greatly appreciated, and will help them grow. Let's set the kids up to be a story of success rather than a story of distress.
Thank you,
Ms. Pack
