First graders have to jump through hoops and then some when it comes to phonics strategies and reading fluency. Being out of school for the hurricane put us pretty far behind. They have so much potential and I want to help them shine as much as possible this year! My students engage best during hands-on activities and educational games. We are constantly incorporating small group activities throughout our day because they feel the need to move and work with their hands. Pencil and paper is not for them! By having these hands-on activities, such as the Phonics and Word Recognition Folder Games, students will be able to stay on task and make gains in their reading fluency.
My students love to think outside the box and enjoy our themed lessons! The Fairy Tale Problem Solving Kits will allow them to see that there is more than one way to solve a problem, not only when they are building a house for The Three Little Pigs, but also in their phonics and reading strategies. With your help, these resources will help challenge my students and make learning interesting while taking their reading to the next level!
