I am the librarian (and only staff-no assistant!) at a large (500+) urban elementary school in Texas. Our enrollment is 96% high-poverty, 72% English Language Learners, and 19% mobile. Our students are crazy about reading, but with home libraries that vary widely in number and quality and limited exposure to other literature, the awesome responsibility of getting great books into their hands falls to me! Our district and school face budget challenges every year, but that doesn't stop our students from wanting to read the latest and greatest. They deserve the best, and I hope you'll help me give it to them.
