My ELA classes complete a variety of independent reading project presentations and debates in order to master state speaking and listening standards.
Having a sturdy podium to organize notes and command the room will better allow students to build confidence in their speaking skills and better prepare themselves for high school and other real world opportunities. Based on personal experiences, I know having a podium to hold greatly helps to ease public speaking anxiety. My hope is also for this podium to increase student interest in creating and listening to presentations about the wonderful world of literature they will be exploring.
