We have begun our transition to a flexible seating model in our classroom. When students are empowered by choices in regard to seating, engagement and performance increases. Through school funding and parent donations, we have been lucky to secure a number of flexible seating components such as scoop rockers, exercise balls, lap desks, and bean bags. This couch will be the finishing touch for our room. Contributing to this project will help provide students with a cozy spot to sit for independent reading, research, peer conferencing, and small group instruction. My students are so excited to use flexible seating this year and they would be so appreciative to add this couch as an additional seating option.
