We know that it is important for young children to read at school and at home each day. These books will enhance my collection of books that the students can take home to practice reading each day. I strive to build a collection of books with topics that students are interested in reading and learning about. Our classroom library is the focal point of our classroom. So many of the paperback books have been loved so much that they are falling apart and need to be replaced!
With these new books, my students will be able to continue to select books that they can read at their own reading level in order to practice their reading skills at home each afternoon.
We know that children must practice reading each day in order to increase reading their reading ability. It is so critical to be able to read to achieve success in all subject areas. First grade is year of such phenomenal reading growth and I want my students to remember that readers are leaders!
