We have a diverse population of students attending our school. We have students coming from very affluent homes and living situations, as well as students who are living out of their vehicles or shelters. There are a few areas in our school zone that are frequently visited by our local police department with reports of violence, drug deals and drug use. It is these areas of poverty that we are concentrating most of our efforts on in terms of instilling a positive attitude about school and life in general.
We are a public school in Maryland and we are encouraging every child to make the most of each and every day, irregardless of home situation. We are a Gold P.B.I.S. school and have worked very hard to reach this status. This year we are looking to implement another component to our current program to further strengthen our program and have a greater influence on our students' character development.
