I have requested cushions, seats, and moveable desks so that my students will be able to work from anywhere in our classroom. I think it is important for students to be able to have a choice in where and how they learn.
With these flexible seating resources, my students will be able to move around the room in order to think independently or collaborate easier with each other. The lap desks allow for students to still have work space, but move to corners of the room with no tables.
The stack chairs allow for students to work at a group kidney table. Floor cushions and yoga mats allow students to spread out with a clip board, if they chose.
The goal is to teach my students about choice, because we all know how we prefer to work best, including our students.
