My students in Room 8 are amazing. Everyday they come to school with an enthusiasm to try their best, even though they know that school can be a huge obstacle for them. Reading and math is hard. Making friends during recess can be a challenge. Managing their emotions can be difficult, too. But regardless of their challenges, Room 8 students are inspirational. Whether they have a learning disability, ASD, or an emotional disturbance; every day there is growth, progress, success, and smiles. My students know that it is ok to make mistakes and that what's important is that they never give up. Respect, kindness, and acceptance are very important in Room 8. In Room 8, we care about each other. We help each other. We accept that everyone has their own individual work to do and we encourage our peers. Room 8 is a safe and accepting learning environment for all students with learning, social, and emotional challenges. :)
