My students need a HowdaHug Chair, wobble chairs, a round activity table and Chromebooks to increase their focus and attention. As 21st Century learners, my students need additional access to technology to support their learning and projects. My Superheroes are enjoying the flexible seating options and technology already available in our classroom. However, a larger variety of flexible seating as well as additional technology will effect their overall learning environment, support their attention needs as well as give them a voice in the choices they make for their own learning. Many of my students have significant attention needs. Many students also have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and require body breaks to regulate both lowered and heightened senses. In Superhero Headquarters we use the Hulk Center to "Keep Calm and Stay Incredible". Students use various techniques to regulate their bodies and return to learning. Flexible seating like the Howda Hug Chair and the wobble chairs as well as various table top options will enhance our flexible seating options and allow students a variety of choice during the school day. Students will use theses items throughout the day when they are reading independently and/or with their buddies. They will benefit from using these materials when engaging in hands-on science and math activities when being focused and attentive are extremely important in order to be successful. The addition of Chromebooks to our technology center will support each student in the classroom. In the 2018-2019 school year, we hope to use the new Chromebook technology to further develop our research skills as well as design new and exciting slide presentations to share with our families and the school community on current events, Civil Rights Activists and simple machines.
By donating to our project you will not only be adding much needed materials to Superhero Headquarters, but you will be supporting students choice, learning and creativity and increasing our overall academic
