We have 370 public elementary school students in PreK through 6th Grades. Our children come from working-class homes and a variety of cultural backgrounds, specifically African-American, Caucasian, and Hispanic. Many of our students come from high-poverty families. Often they do not have books and other resources in their homes.
My students love to read, visit the library, and check out new books. They take pride in selecting their books to read and are always wanting to know when new books will arrive in the library.
