The Great Smoky Mountains are a beautiful sight! My students and I get the great benefit of living in its rural foothills. Our school is a K-8 Title 1 high poverty elementary school where over 600 students are receiving free or reduced price lunch. The basic school supplies are very limited here due to the increased poverty level. In the face of adversity, our students are thirsting for knowledge and are eager for the experiences that will positively impact their futures.
