My students are primarily from refugee families who were forced to leave their country out of fear for their lives. They have come to the U.S. in search of a better life. They are curious and resourceful children who come from all over the world, bringing a wealth of cultural and linguistic knowledge.
Our school strives to bring together refugee, immigrant, and local children in an academically challenging and nurturing environment. Though we have limited resources, we work hard to prepare students both socially and academically.
As an ESOL teacher, I teach them English and academics. They teach me about perseverance and the value of diversity.
