We are an International Baccalaureate school with an emphasis on cross-curricular instruction. "Chains" is a novel that supports the Language and Literature curriculum, as it is filled with symbolism, imagery, and allegory. It teaches setting, narrator, point of view, and theme, along with many other literary elements. In addition, it supports the Individuals and Societies (History) curriculum as it is set during the American Revolution and is told by the point of view of a slave girl. High interest novels contribute to higher academic achievement. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Please consider supplying each of our 8th grade teachers with a class set of "Chains" so that they may experience the Revolution through the eyes of Isabel, an amazing narrator with whom readers fall in love.
