Four classes of 4th grade students will use red worms to create vermiculture boxes in plastic bins in the classroom. We will use recycled food scraps from the cafeteria to feed our worms and create fertilizer. Additionally, we will be germinating our own seeds in the classroom. We will then create out own raised beds to grow a Native American "Three Sisters" learning garden to teach us about interdependence of species. Just like we all depend on each other, our families and community to make our garden a reality, plants depend on each other to help them grow. Please help us grow and learn about sustainability, composting and interdependence.
