The physical structure of a classroom is a critical variable in affecting student morale and learning. To provide my students with a calm, warm, and inviting environment that is conducive to learning, I created a classroom that ultimately makes them happy and gives them a sense of coziness; a home away from home. With lots of lamps, a soothing color scheme, oil diffusers, water fall fountains, and personal touches of an "at home" atmosphere, my students enjoy learning math and science. The students in my classroom have a sense of pride in their work, because they take ownership in their own learning! They help create assessment questions, evaluate their work and work of their peers using rubrics, providing feedback to their peers, set goals for themselves, and more. This broadens their sense of responsibility and empowers them to make their work matter in the real world!
