My students are grouped into classes that range from 20-28 students. Currently, we are sharing the Orff instruments between at least 2-3 students. Students would be more engaged in the music classroom if each child had the opportunity to play their own instrument. Additional instruments would also allow my students to expand the repertoire (musical selections) we can perform. The addition of the F bass bar, xylophones/glockenspiels and djembes will provide more note choices and sounds for the students to experiment with in the music classroom.
Not only do we use the instruments to explore music in the classroom, we also use the instruments in performances throughout the year. All children love to perform for their parents and peers. By providing more instruments, we can provide more hands-on learning and performance opportunities for children. Instruments get kids excited about music!
