Flexible seating helps students in taking charge of their own learning. They are able to decide where and how they work best to aid in self reflection and responsibility. Student's comfort is important in their ability to retain what they are learning. My students are allowed to sit where they are able to be work their best.
My students are noticeably more engaged and focused when they are moving. I would like to use them mostly at my teacher table; however, they can easily be used anywhere around my room. Activity and movement in the classroom has been proven to increase retention of content in class. I want my students to feel free to wiggle while they work so that they can reach their goals and be successful.
