Art Journals are creative goldmines! My 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are at the perfect age for creating and documenting their creative processes. With these art journals, students can brainstorm, vent, write, paint, collage, and more.
Art journaling fosters divergent thinking, nurtures self-expression, and relieves stress. We will use these journals for a variety of art projects, as well as vehicles for learning across the curriculum. My young artists will keep these in their regular classrooms, and bring them to the Art room once a week. This will allow us to create a bridge of learning from art to other subject areas. Finally, in case the school has to pivot to online learning due to Covid-19, students will be able to take their journals home and use them with my virtual art lessons.
They will already have paper to use! Finally, it's win-win-win: Deep learning, Big Smiles, and Messy Hands!
