I have 10 Special Education students in my classroom ranging from 3rd -5th grade.
We are located just outside of Detroit, Michigan. Our school is a Title I school with over 75% of the students who qualifying for free and reduced lunch. Many are living in poverty. School is a place for them to have structure, positive social interactions, receive praise, make friends and gain a sense of belonging to a positive community where they can feel loved. My students are motivated to learn and strive to achieve their goals. They really enjoy flexible seating and wish they had better tables to accommodate their needs.
