I teach reading intervention at a public elementary school located in the Fruitvale district of Oakland, one of California's most disadvantaged urban areas. The students at this school come from low-income backgrounds and face many academic, social, and emotional challenges. 95% of my students are English language learners and need a lot of language and literacy support. My students come to school every day excited and eager to learn. I want to provide them with the classroom, supplies, and quality education that they deserve.
