Everyone learns differently. Using all the parts of our brain is important. Especially when learning Math. Giving students the proper materials so that they can 'see' and 'do' the Math is extremely valuable. Have some basic manipulatives to help support their learning will greatly impact each student. Watching them learn and grow as they use the materials and have lot so of 'a-ha' moments is what teaching is all about. We will use the Base Ten Blocks to help teach number relationships, basic number sense, place value and addition/subtraction strategies. We will use the clocks to help teach basic techniques for telling time to the hour and half hour.
