21 third graders enter this classroom everyday from all walks of life with a smile and positive attitude determined to do well. This group loves to read, and although not all are on grade level they are learning persistence. Many come to class with a desire to 'do science' and I am excited to introduce hands on learning experiences to this new group one recycled project at a time. Getting the students prepared for the high stakes testing in March is a huge task but I absolutely believe in providing experiences that if nothing else, adds to their working bank of knowledge. Learning math facts, daily silent reading, story time, them reading aloud and to each other and soon test taking strategies takes up most of our time. But I do like to incorporate STEM when I can, and the kids absolutely love computer projects! We have students from low economic backgrounds, military, and special needs.
